Giving Caregivers a Break
Caring for a person with a disability can be stressful no matter how much you love them and want to fully support them and meet their needs. Respite services give caregivers a helping hand by providing trained staff to step in for a brief period.
Who is eligible?
Any individual age 3 or older receiving Wood County Board of Developmental Disabilities Services is eligible for respite services.
When is respite care used?
Respite care helps families navigate a variety of situations, including:
- Short-term relief
- Unforeseen homelessness
- Family emergencies
- Recovery time from medical procedures
- And more!
Respite homes
Easterseals Northwest Ohio is contracted by the Wood County Board of Developmental Disabilities to provide respite services at three homes:
- Portage Respite Home: Typically for traditional respite and adults with accessibility needs
- Perrysburg Respite Home: Typically for longer term respite and stabilization for adults
- Rossford Respite Home for Children: Designed specifically for children, ages 3 to 17
